Changing our Unitarian Universalist First Principle will help us deepen our UU faith through reflection, discussion, and action.  We seek to change it so that we humans can live deeply connected to this beautiful world, and in so being nourished, can nurture nature and her beings.  Said another way, when we are welcomed in the “family of things” as says poet Mary Oliver, we have greater capacity to welcome others in our circles of compassion. 

The UUA Bylaws state that it only takes a simple majority to send this resolution to a study commission, where the ultimate Bylaw revision might change the current wording, address another principle, or suggest a new principle.  So by signing this petition, you are basically asking the UUA of Congregations to study this issue and that it is worthy of debate and reflection.  The exact wording can be changed later. So do not let the exact wording deter you from signing on now and showing your support!
