Start Passport Seva Kendra at Kasaragod as instructed by the minister

Kasaragod is the second largest NRI populated district in Kerala with more than 2 lakhs residents of the district are working in overseas supporting more than half million lives. Our dependency on passport office is very high compared to any other district for various services including issuing of new passport, renewal, amendment etc. In addition to the expatriate community of the district, there is a major chunk of population who travelling to holy Makkah for Hajj &Umrahare also need to utilize the service of the said office on regular basis.

While Kasaragod district is the second largest users of the Passport Office, we are one of the two districts of Kerala which has not even a ‘Passport Seva Kendra” in their district. The nearest passport Seva Kendra where we currently  depending is the Passport Sevan Kendra of Payyanur- Kannur District which is 98  KM from away from one of the  borders of our district. Travelling to this distance not only becomes a great inconvenience  for users which includes senior citizens, ladies and children, but also a time consuming as we may need to pay multiple visits especially with limited transport facilities.

Though a full-fledged passport office in Kasaragod District was our long-time dream, but a passport Seva Kendra in our district now became an absolute must to cater the ever increasing users.

With regard to a petition by our MP Karunakaran received a letter(attached with the petition) from External Affair Minister Mrs Sushma Swaraj on September 2014, instructing Passport organization to conduct Passport Seva Camps at Kasaragod but no initiation taken till today.

Our petition is to the concerned authority to do needful to provide Passport Seva Kendra to Kasaragod district considering all the facts mentioned and as per the order from External Affair Ministry
