Problem:

1. Inadequate Staffing
2. Patient Safety 
3. Emotional Trauma/stress
4. Physical Trauma/stress 
5. Lack of ancillary/emotional support 
6. Lack of protection 
7. No audible voice in matters that directly/indirectly effect nurses

 Nurses are the foundation and pillars of all healthcare organizations.  Nurses are faced  with, at more times than not, an insurmountable amount of work that requires sharpness, attention to detail, and are time sensitive. The acuity level of most patients in an acute care setting require uninterrupted time, & attention. 

Inadequate staffing creates a barrier to providing safe, timely patient care. 
Lack of regulated patient/nurse ratios contribute to near-misses, and sentinel events to include death.

It is imperative to implement regulatory guidelines regarding safe nurse to patient ratios to insure patients receive the care that is required and needed to facilitate a good outcome/recovery.

Nurses that are united have the power to change the structure.
