In 2019, workers at Anchor Brewing fought to win a union, and the city of San Francisco stood with them. Workers won their union, and went from scraping by to winning living wages, good benefits and stability. Workers were able to have long-term careers making the beer that San Francisco loved.

In July 2023, all of that was taken away when Anchor Brewing suddenly closed. Sapporo had changed Anchor's branding, neglected the local market, and essentially ran the company into the ground. San Francisco lost a century-old institution. Workers were thrown out of the jobs they loved and the stability they had fought so hard for. 

Now, Hamdi Ulukaya has bought AnchorBrewing and is preparing to restart production. Workers at Anchor Brewing deserve to have good, long-term and stable jobs. Workers at Anchor Brewing deserve good union jobs. 

We call on Hamdi Ulukaya to offer all workers their jobs back and to sign a neutrality agreement with ILWU Local 6. This agreement means that if a majority of workers sign union cards with the union, the company will recognize them and negotiate a fair union contract.
