Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the group of 6,283 people who signed our petition calling for climate action in mountains.
Certain that the climate change negotiators representing 195 countries at COP21 in Paris will receive our message, we declare victory.
Today’s challenge has been met but we must continue our concerted efforts to face those of tomorrow. As the world heats up, mountain glaciers are melting at unprecedented rates while rare plants and animals struggle to survive over ever diminishing areas, and mountain peoples, already among the world’s poorest citizens, face even greater hardships.
The Mountain Partnership, an alliance of 264 governments and civil society organizations, strives to improve the lives and livelihoods of mountain communities. We work to preserve mountain environments. And we invite you to promote sustainable mountain development with us.
