Sabina Bermsten started this petition to UNESCO

Visiting Petra in september 2019 left me heartbroken.

You're offered "taxis" every step you take, taxis meaning malnourished camels, donkeys and horses, some with limps and some with open wounds being beaten and treated in the worst way by people who couldn't care less if they die on the way. Horses and donkeys carry up to 3 heavy people at a time all day and almost falling to the ground in the extreme desert heat while getting beaten by men and boys!! The animals are forced to climb steep hills to the top with the heavy weight on their backs while slipping and being beaten on the way with chains, whips and everything else. There is No water in sight for the animals and some has foam around their mouths. People on tripadvisor has witnessed the poor animals dying from the heat, starving to death and being beaten to death while officials do nothing, animals are being kicked, yelled at and thrown rocks at or being raced by the owners when they're bored. Other times they leave them out chained in the burning sun for hours!

Petra is a archaeological site in Jordan thats been on the UNESCO world heritage site since 1985. 2018 Unesco representatives in Jordan promised to do something about the animal abuse after Peta got involved, but nothing has happened! THIS HAS TO STOP!!! Tell UNESCO officials that they have to step in!! NOW!!
