Santa Rosa Junior College has spent thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars of the last few years to promote the idea of equity. The college even has a Student Life, Equity & Engagement department. MEChA de SRJC just became aware that student employees in the Petaluma campus should be making $17.06 an hour, starting January 1, 2023. This, because the city of Petaluma's minimum wage increased to $17.06 (https://cityofpetaluma.org/minimum-wage/ 

When MEChA de SRJC reached out to administration about the fact that students are not being paid equitable wages, the college's response was "Thank you for brining your question forward but that requirement does not apply to SRJC employees since we are a governmental agency." 

We demand that all student workers be paid a living wage in order for them to not have to work two or three different jobs while attending college. If Target can start individuals at $18.50, we must make students' employment equitable. SRJC cannot claim that they are working on equity, if they are not willing to be equitable with students.

El Santa Rosa Junior College ha gastado miles, si no cientos de miles de dólares en los últimos años para promover la idea de la equidad. El college incluso cuenta con un departamento de Vida Estudiantil, Equidad y Compromiso. MEChA de SRJC acaba de enterarse de que los empleados estudiantiles en el campus de Petaluma deberían ganar $17.06 por hora a partir del 1 de enero de 2023. Cuando MEChA de SRJC se acercó a la administración sobre el hecho de que los estudiantes no están recibiendo salarios equitativos, la respuesta del college fue "Gracias por plantear su pregunta, pero ese requisito no se aplica a los empleados de SRJC ya que somos una agencia gubernamental".

Exigimos que todos los trabajadores estudiantiles reciban un salario digno para que no tengan que trabajar en dos o tres trabajos diferentes mientras asisten al college. Si Target empieza la paga a $18.50, tenemos que proveer una paga justa para estudiantes que trabajan en SRJC. SRJC no puede afirmar que está trabajando en la equidad si no está dispuesto a ser equitativo con los estudiantes.
