Discrimination of unemployed Australians that have a mortgage v's renters.

As you are well aware jobkeeper is due to end shortly.

Unemployment will soon be a huge problem for many families. Maintaining their mortgage is going to be a massive burden on their welfare. We already know the unemployment benefit is below the poverty line, with rental assistance provided for those not invested into property... which seems discriminatory.

Taxpayers that have invested their earnings with good faith into their own home get no support from government should they become unemployed... they are at the mercy of their lender. Is this a conspiracy to push people into rentals and encourage those wealthy investors? It increases the rental prices and those unable to pay just end up homeless... both a burden our society. Less to spend from our budget in the community due to high rent and taxes to build social housing.

This must be addressed IMMEDIATELY and a housing allowance paid to those unemployed people EQUAL to that of rental assistance. Otherwise I would consider government to be discriminatory with an agenda to support banks who will soon foreclose on mortgages and those investors looking to buy cheap rental properties!

Personally I have been through this and had to downsize my home, it cost $50,000 in government taxes and fees to agents. Had there been a housing allowance, I would not have had to withdraw $20,000 from my superannuation, my marriage would not have ended in divorce, and my mental health would not have suffered. Suicide could have been the result, as I realize many have ended up like this
