I would like to respectfully address the concerns raised regarding my recent petition. My intention has been solely to share publicly available information and to request a reconsideration of specific cases. I want to emphasize that any suggestion of legal action in response to this petition could be viewed as an attempt at retaliation, which may be inconsistent with applicable laws protecting free speech and public participation.
Furthermore, as a public official, there is a higher evidentiary standard required to succeed in any defamation claim, including the necessity to prove that any alleged false statements were made with actual malice. It is also important to note that Act 72 of 2024, known as the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act (UPEPA), enacted in July 2024, provides legal protections for individuals engaging in petitions and public discourse, including safeguards against intimidation.
My sole request is for a thoughtful and respectful review of past cases, especially as new information becomes available. Throughout this process, I have maintained a respectful tone and have not made any false or unfounded allegations. My goal remains to proceed in a peaceful, constructive manner that respects my constitutional rights.
I appreciate the dedication of current and former elected officials and trust that we all share a common commitment to integrity and public service. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
