Firstly, thank you to everyone who has signed and supported this petition — your voices are making a real impact.
We have now received an official response from the City of Ballarat regarding the concerns raised. Council has acknowledged the situation and advised they are working with Victoria Police, including increasing patrols during peak times and reviewing safety within the area.
However, the response did not address several key requests from our community.
There has been no commitment to:
• Installing lighting in high-risk areas such as the Moritz Drive park
• Installing CCTV to deter and monitor ongoing criminal activity
• Providing any clear timeline for safety improvements
Since these concerns were first raised, the situation has unfortunately not improved — and in many cases, residents report it has worsened. Incidents including theft, violence, and antisocial behaviour are continuing, and many still feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood.
Some residents have even made the difficult decision to leave the area due to ongoing safety concerns.
We have now formally responded to Council requesting clear answers, specific actions, and timeframes.
What next?
• We are continuing to engage with Council and will now contact local MPs to push for direct action
• Media coverage has begun, and we will continue working with media outlets to keep attention on this issue
• If no meaningful action is taken, we will escalate this further through additional channels to ensure accountability
• We will continue collecting community feedback and evidence to strengthen our case
👉 Please continue to share the petition and encourage others across Ballarat to sign:
The more support we have, the stronger our voice becomes.
This is about protecting our community — and we will not stop pushing until real action is taken.
Thank you again for standing with us.
