Dear Supporters,
Thank you again for your continued support — we are now approaching 800 signatures, which clearly shows the strength of concern within our community.
We have now received a detailed response from the City of Ballarat regarding the safety concerns raised, particularly in relation to the Moritz Drive park.
Council has advised they are:
• Investigating the possibility of installing sensor lighting at the BBQ shelter and public toilet
• Continuing to liaise with Victoria Police regarding reported incidents
However, there are still significant concerns with this response.
At this stage:
• There is no confirmed timeframe for any lighting installation
•Lighting is only being considered for limited areas, not the broader park where incidents are occurring
CCTV is not being considered
• There are no immediate safety measures in place
Importantly, the core issue — the overall darkness across the park — remains unaddressed.
We have formally responded to Council requesting:
• Expanded lighting across the entire park, not just facilities
• Clear timeframes for action
• Reconsideration of CCTV
• Immediate interim safety measures
• We have also requested a night-time site meeting with Council so they can directly observe the conditions residents are experiencing.
While this is a step forward, it is not yet the action our community needs.
👉 We must keep the pressure on. Please feel free to share with neighbours and family and friends - the more signatures the more serious this will be taken
