Following this, Ballarat Mayor Tracey Hargreaves has acknowledged the concerns raised and advised that the matter has been referred to the appropriate council officers for review. Council has also stated they are working with police to assess safety within the Winter Valley area.

While this is a step in the right direction, it is only the beginning.

Our community is still experiencing ongoing incidents, including theft, violence, and unsafe conditions — particularly in poorly lit areas such as the Winterfield park. Residents are continuing to report concerns, and many still feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood.

We will continue to push for real, visible action — including:

• Proper lighting

• CCTV installation

• Increased police presence and patrols
