Currently, in the Kaplan Wellness Center you are not allowed to wear clothes that reveal your midriff in the gym.  In the pool area, it is acceptable to wear a top that shows your stomach, but in the workout area it is not.  This is an aribitrary way of policing women's bodies.  Women, who are primarily the ones showing their midriffs by wearing cropped shirts and sports bras, should not be shamed into covering themselves with more, unnecessary layers, especially in an environment such as a gym where one needs to be comfortable and cool to exercise and properly care for their bodies.  The Kaplan Wellness Center should change their policy to allow women to show their midriffs in the gym, as well as their pool.
