I believe that animal testing is completely inhumane, it is torture to animals that do not deserve that treatment. Approximately 100,000-200,000 animals suffer and die for cosmetics every year around the world. These animals - rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice and rats - go through tests where chemicals are rubbed onto their shaved skin or dripped into their eyes, they are force fed, they are even forced to consume lethal doses of chemicals to determine the dose that causes death. These tests cause so much pain, including blindness, swollen eyes, sore bleeding skin, internal bleeding and organ damage, birth defects, convulsions and death. Pain relief is not provided and at the end of a test the animals are killed, normally by asphyxiation, neck-breaking or decapitation. Why does this still happen when there are methods to test that do not involve animal testing? Although I may not be able to bring an end to animal testing, I personally do not want anything to do with that industry. I think that the cosmetic and makeup brands that feel comfortable using animal testing when there are other ways to test makeup should have to make it completely clear on their products or brand, so that those who are against animal testing know not to buy from that brand. Even if the brand is only able to test on animals in China, I want nothing to do with their products in the EU.
