Unbolt Zapata Falls

Zapata Falls is one of the most beautiful/photogenic waterfalls in Colorado.
The short hike to the falls is also exciting and unique.
The cables should be removed because:
1) They are unnecessary and could increase the risk of incidents/accidents.
2) Will invite further negative impacts to the canyon by careless individuals.
3) Ruin the experience of walking up the creek to the falls.
4) Destroy the aesthetic beauty of the canyon and falls.

Letter to
Colorado State Land Board
Please remove the steel cables bolted to Zapata Falls Canyon.
Zapata Falls is one of the most beautiful/photogenic waterfalls in Colorado.
The short hike to the falls is also exciting and unique.
The cables should be removed because:
1) They are unnecessary and could increase the risk of incidents/accidents. Anyone with proper care and footwear/poles can safely access the falls. The cables are poorly designed and may actually encourage visitors to take unnecessary risks by providing a false sense of security.
2) Will invite further negative impacts to the canyon by careless individuals who are not committed to leave-no-trace ethics.
3) Ruin the experience of walking up the creek to the falls.
4) Destroy the aesthetic beauty of the canyon and falls. Many photographers visit the falls, and the cables make it more difficult to photograph the falls without the "hand of man" intruding.
Instead of introducing destructive elements like the cables, we should be protecting the natural beauty of the falls and canyon.
