Firstly, we thank EVERYONE for the support and for the voicing out positive views and condemning the kidnapping.
I also agree that kidnapping innocent women and children is an act of war crime.
However, two full months passed, but none of the responsible Authorities got involved into saving the 30+ women and children kidnapped in the horrific circumstances in Sweida (a Druze populated district of Syria) on 25 July 2018. We hoped that The UN Special Envoy for Syria can help them. However, it seems that this is not the case.
There is no doubt that the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, faced extraordinary challenges during the period 2011 - present.
But as the UN peace drive has dragged on without evident success the terrorists and the militia/various fighters/the government forces steadily gained ground at various times on various places showing little interest in negotiating an end to the bloodshed, least to care about innocent Druze women and children, what a shame!
But questions have mounted over the future of the UN peace effort, with the recent General Assembly serving as yet another deadline missed, while France warned Monday a “perpetual war” loomed in the Middle East unless a Syrian peace accord is reached.
The Security Council was briefed about creating a committee to revise Syria’s constitution following the meeting in Sochi led by Iran, Russia and Turkey.
A Hope that if such committee is agreed before the General Assembly, more hope for people like the Kidnapped Druze women from Sweida.
The Syrian conflict has killed more than 360,000 people since 2011.
Such issues will top the agenda.
However, the problems with the kidnapped women and children from Sweida is still REAL.
The Druze families are still waiting for resolution of the problem, whispers about negotiations between the Russians and terrorists/Syrian Army and terrorists have been promulgating.
The media is largely silent on the development (in any) associated with the kidnapping.
The Chief of the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, relying on his “women’s advisory board,” has a staff of 92, has a total budget over the past three years at approximately $50 million: we hope that he makes a decision to use this budget to help the Kidnapped women and children by involving experts and negotiators to save many lives and restore faith in humanity.
