Stop dragging your feet on sustainable solutions that could save lives and our environment.

The Issue

Make a New Year's resolution in 2015 that is worth keeping...make a resolution to help save lives. You could start by signing this petition to help ensure billions of people can gain access to energy.

This year, millions of families will watch helplessly as otherwise treatable conditions force their loved ones fight for their lives…because the medical facilities that serve them don’t have access to electricity, or the lifesaving technologies it brings with it.

Around the world, 1.3 billion people are living without any form of modern energy services, and another billion people lack affordable, safe, and reliable access.

Four million people die each year as a result of inhaling lethal smoke from the open fires and simple stoves used to heat and light their homes – that’s more deaths than are caused by HIV/AIDS and malaria combined.

Millions more who become sick with perfectly treatable conditions have no hope of recovery because their hospital doesn’t have access to electricity.

Of course, where there is no energy, there are no ultrasound machines to check the health of unborn babies, no incubators, no life-saving equipment and no refrigeration to store essential vaccines. In fact, millions of children are born by candlelight each year because at night, there are not even lights.

We all need energy. Sign our petition and help ensure billions of people can gain access to essential medical care powered by energy and a fair chance at life. We are sending this petition to the United Nations negotiators of the Sustainable Development Goals which, beginning in late 2015, will become the global framework for lifting people around the world out of poverty, and also to ensure our planet, and its climate, have a healthy future as well.
