Stop animal cruelty in Armenia
The Issue
It’s been a long time that animals (including, pets, domesticated animals and wildlife) face cruel and not fair treatment by the government, other responsible parties and people in general in Armenia.
A group of dedicated Animal rights protectors in Armenia has been raising this issues for over decades now. In September of 2019 the parliament finally adopted a law to prevent cruelty against animals. But the law continues staying just on the paper. It seems nor the police, government and neither city municipalities care to call this law in action. In result, thousands of animals suffer every day!
Help us gather signatures to show the Armenian government and other international organizations listed in the petition that a serious action should be taken to prevent animals being mistreated.
We expects that this will result in:
- thousands of stray dogs, cats will be treated properly, spayed/neutered properly, fed and placed in animal shelters which the government has to take the responsibility to build!
- people who treat animals cruelly; leave their pets in the streets without food or water, steal dogs from the streets for further cruel treatment, shoot, hurt animals in different ways, etc have to be fined/jailed by the RA Police department.
- those who are not registered as breeders and just use their dogs as breeding machines have to be punished.
- individuals who train dogs for fighting and organize dog fights have to be punished by this law.
- those who keep wild animals in captivity should be punished by the law.
Animals are waiting for our action!
