The undersigned respectfully request that Judge Richard Hersch consider opening an investigation into Frank Ramos, former stepfather of Derek Rosa. We strongly believe in Derek’s innocence and feel that the facts surrounding this case are confusing and full of inconsistencies.

We have seen the testimony of the grandmother in the news, where she described her grandson as an angel and the best boy in the world. No member of his family believes that Derek could have committed this horrible crime. On the contrary, testimonies from neighbors and relatives confirm the deep love he had for his mother.

Statements made by Frank Ramos himself on social media describe an atrocious crime—one that, by his own account, could only have been committed by a monster, or that seems to reflect a crime of passion. This only raises more doubts about what truly happened.

Judge, we earnestly ask that you approve the motion to investigate Frank Ramos. Please do not let this case go unresolved without exploring the possibility of an alternative suspect who may, allegedly, be the true perpetrator. Derek Rosa remains isolated under the harshest conditions without yet having been formally convicted in court.

This is the future of a child—a citizen who deserves a fair and thorough investigation.
