Demand the Immediate Release of these 6 student protesters from prison in Venezuela
The Issue
6 innocent young people are being tortured in prison for protesting peacefully in Venezuela.
They received electric shocks, were forced to kneel for hours, kicked, and beaten with poles. The police also sprayed them with gasoline and threatened to burn them to death.
During the protests of February 12th during which three students were killed, and more than 60 were wounded, 16 students in Caracas were unjustly imprisoned without cause, and only 10 have been released.
The names of the brave students that remain in prison are:
Marco Aurelio Coello; Demian Martin; Cristhian Holdack; Luis Boada; Nelson Gil and Angel Gonzalez.
We condemn the violation of the human rights of the six students who have been detained and tortured by the CICPC (Venezuelan police force) on February 12th. They were incriminated with false evidence and deprived of their freedom in a trial that was unbelievably absurd.
We demand their immediate release. They are representatives of the heroic Venezuelan youth. Regardless of any political leanings, all of Venezuela and the world must know and denounce this vile injustice. Their names must be displayed in signs placed in the main streets of the country and in all the social media sites throughout the world. National prayers must be organized and executed in order to pray for these brave students. Let's get to work. We have the world's support.
*The students were tortured by the CICPC unit in Parque Carabobo, Caracas. While some of the students have been moved to another CICPC center that treats them better, there is no reason for them to remain in prison.
**Please see this video with English subtitles for more details from their lawyer, Tamara Suju: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9bA5IIXScc
***Article 46 of the Venezuelan Constitution prohibiting the use of torture:

Here are the original words from Armando Coello, the father of one of the students, (paraphrased above):
