Gli equini atleti non sono ancora inclusi nelle politiche europee.
Le decisioni si stanno prendendo ora.
Il “dopo” resta fuori dal sistema.
Firma per chiedere responsabilità lungo tutta la loro vita.

Nel 2026, l’Europa sta ridefinendo le proprie politiche sul benessere animale.
La Commissione Europea sta preparando una nuova Strategia Zootecnica.
Il Parlamento Europeo ne discuterà contenuti e direzione.
La definizione delle politiche europee è in corso.
Questo è il momento in cui si decide cosa entra nel sistema e cosa continua a restarne fuori.
Chiediamo alle istituzioni europee di riconoscere gli equini atleti lungo tutto il ciclo di vita, introdurre strumenti strutturati di tutela post-carriera e garantire responsabilità oltre la fase produttiva.
È un passaggio decisivo.
Gli equini atleti non sono ancora inclusi in modo strutturato nelle politiche europee.
Partecipano a sistemi economici e sportivi, generano valore e sono parte del sistema agricolo europeo.
Eppure non esiste una tracciabilità europea lungo tutta la vita, né un sistema strutturato per il post-carriera, né una responsabilità continua dopo l’attività.
Il “dopo” resta fuori dal sistema.
La Strategia Zootecnica prevista non è una legge: non introduce obblighi né strumenti vincolanti.
Senza strumenti vincolanti, la tutela resta facoltativa.
E quando è facoltativa, non è una tutela.
Gli equini sono monitorati durante l’attività.
Ma quando escono dal sistema, escono anche dalla responsabilità pubblica.
Questo comporta passaggi tra proprietà, mancanza di continuità ambientale e relazionale e una gestione affidata a risorse individuali.
Non è solo una questione etica.
È una questione di coerenza:
se un’attività genera valore, deve garantire anche responsabilità nel tempo.
Gli equini atleti sono transfrontalieri.
Si muovono tra Stati diversi e partecipano a sistemi economici e sportivi europei.
Per questo la struttura di tutela non può essere frammentata, ma deve essere europea e comune.
Senza un sistema condiviso, la responsabilità si interrompe nei passaggi tra Paesi, la tracciabilità si perde e la tutela diventa disomogenea.
Ciò che è europeo nell’utilizzo deve essere europeo anche nella responsabilità.
Chiediamo l’introduzione di un Fondo Post-Carriera per gli Equini Atleti, non finanziato con fondi pubblici, ma costruito a partire dal valore che essi stessi hanno contribuito a generare, destinando una quota dei premi economici per garantire continuità di tutela anche al termine dell’attività, assicurando tracciabilità lungo tutta la vita, evitando ricollocazioni ripetute e non adeguate e garantendo continuità e stabilità.
Non inattività passiva.
Non assenza di relazione umano–equino ed equino–equino.
Ma un sistema che sostenga sicurezza fisica ed emotiva, continuità relazionale, ambiente stabile, possibilità di scelta, coerenza e prevedibilità delle interazioni, senza obiettivi prestazionali.

The European Commission is preparing a new Livestock Strategy.
The European Parliament will discuss its direction and content.
European policy-making is currently underway.
This is the moment when it is decided what becomes part of the system and what continues to be left out.
We call on European institutions to recognize equine athletes throughout their entire life cycle, introduce structured post-career protection tools and ensure responsibility beyond the productive phase.
This is a decisive moment.
Equine athletes are not yet structurally included in European policies.
They participate in economic and sporting systems, generate value and are part of the European agricultural system.
Yet there is no EU-wide lifetime traceability, no structured post-career system, and no continuous responsibility after their activity.
The “after” remains outside the system.
The Livestock Strategy is not a law: it does not introduce binding obligations or enforceable tools.
Without binding tools, protection remains optional.
And when it is optional, it is not real protection.
Equines are monitored during their activity.
But when they exit the system, they also exit public responsibility.
This leads to ownership transfers, lack of environmental and relational continuity and management dependent on individual resources.
This is not only an ethical issue.
It is a matter of coherence:
if an activity generates value, it must ensure responsibility over time.
Equine athletes are transboundary.
They move across countries and operate within European systems.
For this reason, protection cannot be fragmented but must be European and shared.
Without a common system, responsibility is lost across borders, traceability breaks down and protection becomes inconsistent.
What is European in use must also be European in responsibility.
We call for the creation of a Post-Career Fund for Equine Athletes, not financed through public funds, but built from the value they themselves have contributed to generate, allocating a share of economic prizes to ensure continuity of protection beyond the end of their activity, ensuring lifetime traceability, preventing repeated and unsuitable relocations and guaranteeing continuity and stability.
Not passive inactivity.
Not absence of human–equine and equine–equine relationships.
But a system that supports physical and emotional safety, relational continuity, a stable environment, possibility of choice, consistency and predictability of interactions, without performance goals.
