At the University of Mary Washington, if you were given an academic scholarship upon arrival, they require that you remain on-campus for all 4 years in order to keep it. This is unlike any public institution the University compares itself to and threatens the economic livelihood of its students. If a student chooses that living off-campus is best for them, they should not have to restrict themselves in order to remain financially solvent. Further, the University cites that students who live on-campus perform better, which is why they require it -- if they really cared, they would simply keep a GPA requirement, and allow students to choose for themselves.
