Umngeni Municipality to pay Umngeni SPCA money’s owed and continue agreement with SPCA

0 have signed. Let’s get to 35,000!

The Umngeni Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, has failed to make payments to the local SPCA for services pertaining to agreements entered into by both parties.

The Umngeni SPCA has not been paid since July 2018, for among other things, removing of animal carcasses from roads or public places, collecting of stray animals and small animal pound facilities, all of which are mandated to the Municipality.  The SPCA cannot foot the bill for the municipality failing to pay them, the SPCA is a NPO.

The municipality has however found the funds to upgrade their air conditioning at their offices, purchase new vehicles and spend on things that do NOT serve us as Tax Payers.

The breakdown in the relationship will adversely affect the welfare of animals in our city.  We demand that the money owed be paid up in full to the relevant SPCA and that the service level agreement be signed and honoured moving forward.  The spca is experienced, equipped and able to carry out the work as they have always been.
