Plant more bee friendly flowers and plants on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus!

The Issue

Bees are declining at a frightening rate (known as Colony Collapse Disorder). They need our help! Bees get their protein and carbohydrates from floral pollen and floral nectar. In addition to global warming, the use of insecticides, particularily neonicotinoids, used on a lot of those flowers are extremely harmful to their health. We need more flowers and plants that are insecticide free! Bees do so much work for our own crops, food supply, and health.

Unfortunately, as University of Minnesota students, we can't personally plant anything on campus. That is why it is important for us to contact the people that can, UMN Landscaping Services. The University of Minnesota is a huge place, known for sustainability practices and discoveries. What a great opportunity. Not only will more flowers help more bees survive, but it will also beautify the place where we love and learn.

On behalf of myself and the bees, thank you.
