Newman Cafe is a staple of UMass Dining. The small cafe located in the Newman Center is undoubtedly the best breakfast on campus. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the UMass dining administration has decided to turn Newman Cafe to “Grab-and-Go” only, in fear that this small cafe could cause a rise of Covid cases on campus. However, Newman center, at most, seats about 75 students in a large open area for a delicious, healthy, and made to order breakfast. While traditional dining halls hold 500+ in much tighter spaces, which have not be made grab and go only. Newman Cafe DOES NOT pose a risk to public safety on UMass Campus and should be open for all students to enjoy a great, healthy breakfast.
