Hi, I am a student who is planning to attend UMB this fall and would like to share my opinion on having online classes with you. My first counter argument to you choosing online classes over in person is the fact that the whole country is reopening as we speak. Restaurants are starting to have seating, graduations are occurring, parades are happening for students all over the world, these are just a few examples of what the country is doing as of now. My second counter argument is that it is wrong to live in fear of a virus that as a 99.84% survival rate. Also over 90% of the people who will be on campus are in the low risk category while LESS than 10% of the people on campus will be in the high risk category. The CDC and W.H.O. has shared guidelines that have effectively slowed/stopped the spread of covid 19. I would and, I know a lot of students would, rather have heavy restrictions put in place and be able to come to campus and have real classes than have online classes. Please sign this petition and we can show the chancellor the students of UMASS Boston want the campus reopened and to have real classes not online classes.
