My wife is locked up in Yarls Wood. Don't deport her!

I’m Mark from London. Ngamngom is my wife. We’ve been together for 15 years, and will soon be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.

She is my rock – and I’ve needed her by my side more than ever recently, after falling gravely ill. I’m in the final stages of kidney failure. But the Home Office want to send her thousands of miles away, and have locked her up in Yarls Wood detention centre. They are planning to forcibly put her on a plane to Thailand on Tuesday 30th July. We desperately your help, to stop them from taking her away.

Since meeting 15 years ago, we’ve lived together between the UK and her homeland, Thailand. We came back to the UK for a visit last May – but unfortunately I became extremely ill, and was hospitalised. It became obvious that I wouldn’t be able to travel back to Thailand, and of course Ngamngom didn’t want to leave my side.

Before her visit visa expired she applied for a spouse visa, so she could stay in the UK as my wife. We met all the strict requirements – the only problem was that she had applied from within the UK. Home Office rules say you can’t apply for a spouse visa from within the UK unless there are “exceptional circumstances” – and apparently needing to help me get to dialysis appointments three times a week and suffering daily didn’t count as exceptional enough.

The visa was refused. And on the 16 July, with no notice, she was taken to immigration detention – more like a prison – and told she would be put on a flight to Thailand on 30 July. We can’t let this happen, and we need your support.

In our marriage vows, we promised to stay together in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. That’s all we want to do – but the Home Office is trying to tear us apart. Please help us to stay together.
