UK to Reward Hamas While Hostages Rot? Starmer's Recognition Plan Must Be Stopped!
The Issue
Starmer's decision to Recognise a Palestinian State... A Disgraceful and Illogical Betrayal of Reason.
I am writing this petition to express my absolute opposition to this government’s recent declaration that the United Kingdom will move towards recognising a Palestinian state... a position that appears, unbelievably, to be conditioned on Israel’s “failure” to agree a ceasefire and reach peace with Hamas.
This is not just morally backward... it is factually wrong, diplomatically reckless, and utterly indefensible.
Let’s deal with the facts... not ideology:
Israel has already agreed to a ceasefire on numerous occasions, via negotiations brokered by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt. FACT
Hamas rejected all ceasefires except for a few, which they exploited as grotesque spectacles to parade and exchange terrified hostages. FACT
This government continues to act as if the opposite is true... effectively penalising Israel for Hamas’s refusal.
In truth, the situation is heartbreakingly simple: release the hostages and the war ends. That has been the position for nearly two years. Yet instead of focusing international pressure on the terrorist group responsible for prolonging this conflict, this government instead turns on Israel... the victim and I thought the UK was supposed to be a freind of Israel, but treats it with suspicion and conditional threats.
To add insult to injury, this government also fail to acknowledge the ongoing humanitarian obstruction caused not by Israel, but by the very organisations it appear to appease. For weeks now, Israeli trucks loaded with humanitarian aid have been parked just inside the Gaza boundary, ready for collection by the United Nations. Yet they sit untouched and spoiling under the sun because the UN is either compromised (which we already know it is) or paralysed by Hamas, who refuse to allow distribution unless it serves their purposes.
It is both astonishing and appalling that the UK government would pursue recognition of a Palestinian state... not through negotiation, peaceful reform, or democratic progress... but as a reward to those who kill thousands of innocent people, fire rockets at civilians, reject ceasefires, and hold innocent people hostage. This approach represents a policy of appeasement towards terrorism, cloaked in the language of diplomacy.
There is nothing statesmanlike about this. It is the worst kind of virtue signalling... politically motivated (for the muslim vote and to deflect from other national issues), legally meaningless, and diplomatically damaging. Worse still, it insults the intelligence of the British public by presuming we are too uninformed to notice the hypocrisy.
Recognition should be based on principles... not propaganda or selfish political goals. It should reward peaceful negotiation and state-building, not rockets, rejectionism, and moral blackmail.
This government is undermining what remains of the UK’s credibility in international affairs. I urge this Government to reverse this position immediately... not just for the sake of international law, but for the sake of national dignity and truth.
