Stop Boots and retailers from profiting from Coronavirus
The Issue
The Government has just announced that the wearing of face masks in shops are to be compulsory in a few days time. Those caught not wearing one can be fined £100, even if you have a health condition that makes breathing difficult. It was only a matter of time before unscrupulous parasites would take advantage of the Coronavirus pandemic and try to profit from it. Although, this was to be expected on ebay and Amazon, so it was no big surprise. However, it seems perfectly fine for corporations to get away with it and nobody seems to mind. It is especially sickening when big pharma seeks to profit from misery, such as Boots who are now ripping off the public for face masks by selling in bulk at extortionate prices. They even have the audacity to advertise their corruption on their own website. Before the pandemic, you could buy a face mask for as little as 25p - 50p each. Boots charge at least £15 for 20, which is the lowest quantity that can be purchased. Other online petitions to the UK Government and Parliament website to halt this outrageous practise have been rejected. However, what we must now ask is for a reason why every petition has been rejected? The obvious answer is that this Governments policy is to promote profit no matter what the cost, including the health of the general public. Despite the suffering and deaths due to COVID-19, it is morally unforgivable to profit financially from such suffering. The extortionate cost of face masks also raises the question of what is in it for Boris Johnson, since his government benefits financially from it too, hence Dominic Cummings preventing media coverage.
