The UN has warned us that we have just twelve years to limit global warming to 1.5C.

With scientists also warning of the very real risks of flooding, overheating and damage to infrastructure, there has never been a more urgent time to act.

We know we need to cut our emissions and develop new technologies to tackle this problem, but this will be a long and expensive process.

Plants could account for a third of the actions needed by 2050 under the UK Climate Change Act, yet they make up just 7% of public discussion.

This continuing imbalance means we’re ignoring a powerful part of the solution. A part that is readily available, low-cost and could benefit the lives of millions of people in Britain.

We believe in the power of plants to help fight climate change.

Seventh Generation - the eco-friendly household cleaning company – has teamed up with plant conservation experts Plantlife, to call on the government to make urgent movement against its promises in the UK Climate Change Act by planting increased numbers of native plants - turning 2% of the country wild. This would absorb the equivalent emissions to every registered vehicle in the UK - a huge step towards the government’s commitment to reach zero net emissions by 2050.

We are asking for an action plan that shows how the government will meet this target, and a commitment to delivering initial results within the next five years.

Sign our petition today and join the fight to put plants back on the climate change agenda.
