We call on the UK and EU governments to urgently request that China immediately close all operating wild animal and wet markets that have a potential to expose humans to health risks through the introduction of zoonotic disease into the human population. China should also ban the eating of cats, dogs and the consumption of other wild animals. This ban is a moral obligation and will prevent the emergence of pathogens that cause disease pandemics like Covid-19.
