Charlie's Law - Tougher Laws for Animal Cruelty

Charlie's Law - Tougher Laws for Animal Cruelty

The Issue

Please help me to change the law regarding cruelty to animals, in the name of a little dog I never met called Charlie who has had a huge impact on me.

Charlie was a little Jack Russel Terrier that had gone to Birkenhead Rescue Centre with reports of previous abuse. Now looking for his forever home and someone to love him, he came into contact with someone called Chris McCormick. McCormick passed the home-check and Charlie was adopted by this seemingly loving man and his wife, to live out the rest of his days in quiet harmony.

However this was not to be. Chris McCormick beat this dog so severely he suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries, and the poor dog did not survive his injuries. The report states that this was not the first time he had been beaten.

It didn't end there as McCormick then buried the poor dog's broken body in a bag in his garden.

McCormick was jailed for 12 weeks.

Please sign this petition and lets see if we can get tougher laws and sentences in memory of this little dog who had not known love his whole life.

Perhaps if rescue centers had more funding, there could be frequent home checks to establish that the adopted dog is being well looked after and is actually in a loving home. If not, they should be removed.

I really don't want Charlie to of died in vain - let's take this as far as we can and get our justice system on the side of all the animals that are so wrongly treated, abused and killed at the hands of these MONSTERS.

They need to be serving YEARS not months. If you agree, please join me by signing this petition.
