This petition is to request the United Kingdom Parliament to call for the immediate and unconditional release of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu MP and all members of the opposition arrested on Tuesday 14th August, 2018. 

Hon. Kyagulanyi MP and members of the opposition were arrested following an incident where their supporters reportedly clashed with the presidential convoy; as president Yoweri Museveni made his way from a campaign rally for the hotly contested parliamentary bi-election for the Arua municipality in northern Uganda.

Hon. Kyagulanyi MP and Hon. Zake MP were tortured, court marshaled and charged with treason.  The two are currently being held under military detention as they recover from the brutal/inhumane treatment and await trial.

Civilians should not be tried in a military court as this is an outright violation of the rule of law and the principles of democracy the United Kingdom upholds and promotes both at home and abroad.
