Stop Network Rail's Environmental Destruction

Stop Network Rail's Environmental Destruction

Network Rail are planning environmental destruction on a massive scale. They are cutting down healthy trees and levelling ecosystems across the country as part of their plan to kill all plants and trees within 6.5 metres of a train track. Vast swatches of green land and crucial green corridors will be levelled, with every living thing killed and cleared. After killing everything they then poison the ground so nothing else will grow - which is extremely dangerous for humans and may prove lethal for wild and domestic animals.
They are undertaking works like this across the country resulting in environmental devastation just to avoid leaves on the line. They have earmarked thousands if not tens of thousands of mature well-established trees and countless plants in just the Havering areas of Gidea Park, Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster, Elm Park and may soon be coming to a community near you.
This devastating environmental impact is happening at a time when we are supposed to be planting trees, not killing them. Vast numbers of animals and birds will die. Air pollution will worsen. The physical and mental health of humans will be damaged by the loss of trees, increased pollution and poisoning of the earth. Flooding will increase. The death of the tree roots will cause landslides which could cause a train derailment and massive loss of life. All to stop leaves on the line. All to save Network Rail money. Because they don't want to spend profits trimming trees when they could make contractors like Ground Control rich by destroying them instead.
Please sign and share the petition, spread the word and write to politicians. Nothing else you do, in your entire life, in all of our lives, to help the environment is likely to have a bigger impact than stopping this destruction.
