Stop eating octopus

Stop eating octopus

The Issue

Everyone knows the octopus is an extremely fascinating species, they are the most intelligent of all invertebrates evolving over tens of millions of years to adapt and change to their environments including abilities to camouflage using pigments in their skin to match the colors and textures of their surroundings, and should predators get to close they can escape quickly using their syphon to expel water and squirt ink it will dull their predators sense of smell. They are the most alien of creatures with their deep and soulful eyes sometimes it’s like they understand us more than we do them, and let’s face it this could be true. We have so much to learn about the octopus we know they can use their arms to explore the world around them but we have only recently discovered that in fact, they have what we believe as brains in each arm that can move and feel independently. Imagine that, imagine being able to move all of your appendages and each one is using a different sensory to read your environment.
Cutting off and eating animals' parts while they are still alive is cruel and barbaric we should stop this pain and suffer happening. This petition is to highlight the benefits this species has on the oceans and try to get some empathy for this cruelty happening every day. Animal welfare organisation in the US has called for a ban on live octopus being served in restaurants but here in the UK, we continue to serve octopus as a delicacy which is barbaric.
Wild waves is a small organisation promoting ocean awareness which is starting a petition to stop the cruel and unnecessary killing and eating of octopus. We need 100,000 signatures to take to animal welfare and government bodies to ban this from happening any longer
