Airlines are profiting from our relatives, UK nationals, currently stranded abroad due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus). The UK government is letting them. Help prevent the airlines refusing refunds and charging extortionate mark-ups on flights home. 

My loved ones are in Australia but there are many other UK nationals abroad in even worse positions with no accommodation or healthcare. This petition is for EVERYONE being let down by the UK government no matter where they are stranded. 

Those stranded have not received refunds from airlines that cancelled flights or imposed impossible flight restrictions with no notice.  This is despite following every bit of UK Foreign Office advice to the letter. 

My relatives bought two sets of flights home they were not permitted to board. Their flights were cancelled or made impossible due to unreasonable last-minute demands for boarding (such as a negative swab test for corona when no such tests were available). They are being charged “administration” fees of £500+ and some airlines are refusing refunds entirely.

The price of flights recommended by the U.K. government is outrageously high. Currently £3,500-£6000 per person from Australia. This flight usually costs in the hundreds.  The UK government is allowing airlines to gain financially from Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

The UK government’s advice is to travel home immediately. Yet the airlines currently tweeting smug messages of support are charging extortionate amounts for repatriation flights. 

The UK government cannot let airlines profit from the travellers stranded during the Covid-19 pandemic in this way.  Show your support for UK nationals stranded abroad - the UK government must stop airlines profiting from Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
