The dangerous dog's act was introduced in 1991 and introduced racism for dogs. The government banned 4 breeds of dogs causing them to be put down on sight due to a supposed aggressive nature. Most experts will agree that a dog's behavior is caused by the way it has been brought up by the breeder or the owner. Scrapping the banned breeds would save the lives of the hundreds of dogs who are put down due to their breed even though they are some of the friendliest dogs you could ever meet. The four banned breeds are:

• Pitbull Terrier
• Japanese Tosa
• Dogo Argentino
• Fila Brasiliero

Ask anyone who has worked with dogs, what dog is most likely to bite, most will say Chihuahua. If the government scrapped the banned breeds and instead moved towards targeting specific dogs and owners. If a dog attacks someone it should be muzzled in public and remain on the leash while in public, if it then attacks someone again it should be up to the courts to decide whether or not the dog should be put to sleep. The same should happen with the owners, if their dog attacks someone they should be entitled to a fine of at least £500 and the attack put on record so that if their dog again attacks someone they are banned from owning dogs for at least 5 years, or until they can prove in a course that they are able to control a dog, if the dog again attacks someone they should be banned for life from owning a dog.

If you the people sign this petition I'm sure the government would finally change the Dangerous Dogs Act and start saving the lives of hundreds of dogs a year.
