SAVE OUR BBC

The Issue

SAVE OUR BBC

The BBC is valued throughout the world for its unrivalled and creative standards of news coverage, education and entertainment.

Once the BBC has been politically ‘hacked back’ and debased it is unlikely to ever be returned to its World leading broadcasting standards.

It is easy to destroy something precious in a political and populist move that may ‘coincidentally’ divert attention from political issues such as the Conservative ‘Party Leader’ Boris Johnson’s survival.

A significant number of people who do not want to pay the Licence fee may pay more for rival providers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Sky, with nothing like BBC range and quality.

Netflix costs monthly £5.99 basic, £9.99 Standard & £13.99 Premium

Amazon Prime costs monthly £7.99 or £79pa = £6.58 monthly

Sky from £26 per month including Netflix.

The BBC Licence Fee of £159pa (£13.25 monthly) provides radio and television covering entertainment, news worldwide, nationwide and local. Entertainment such as Strictly, plays, quizzes, sport, gardening, hobbies, religion, nature such as David Attenborough series, drama, podcasts, the world renowned World Service, Sounds and iPlayer. All of this without frequent advertising interruptions.

Moving to a Netflix-style subscription model would force the BBC to serve subscribers rather than be universal and would inevitably result in a significantly reduced service.
