Stewart Roberts started this petition to UK Parliament and

Original Bella petition called for the following

"Bella, a Belgian Shepherd was tied to a rock and thrown in to the River Trent.

We, the undersigned are sick to death of the pathetic sentences handed out to animal abusers. There is no deterrent for people who treat animals in the most despicable manner. We want the laws to be tougher, and jail sentences for people who think it's ok to abuse animals. Bella did not deserve to be treated like that, and if it was not for a passer by seeing her and getting her to safety she would have died. The actions of those responsible deserve nothing less than a lengthy prison sentence."

Bella petitions have successfully raised awareness of this story, but haven't had the power to make a change, #FinnsLawPart2 is already in the Queens speech and being debated.

#FinnsLawPart2 has parliamentary support and the power to make the change to increase sentences to 5 years for all cases of animal abuse and neglect.

By signing this petition, you can show Parliament you want #FinnsLawPart2 NOW, not just a manifesto promise on animal welfare sentencing that will happen sometime in the future.

Give Bella real justice now!

** UPDATE ON BELLA FEB 2020 ***

10-year-old Bella was immediately taken for emergency treatment at a local vets. After a few days she was taken into RSPCA care and since then she has been looked after by staff at Radcliffe Animal Centre in Nottingham.

Ella Carpenter, centre manager at Radcliffe, said:
Bella continues to do well in our care.

She does have some medical issues which we are carefully monitoring.

– ELLA CARPENTER, RADCLIFFE ANIMAL CENTRE
Bella is currently unavailable for rehoming but the RSPCA will be placing her in a foster home when her condition is stable.

Nottinghamshire Police arrested a 31-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man on suspicion of animal cruelty offences hours after Bella was rescued from the river.

They have been released while the RSPCA continue their investigation.

If #FinnsLawPart2 was in place, they could now be facing the sentences they deserve, and Bella would have some justice for this horrible action.
