I would like to stop the amount of police dogs and horses being injured or killed whilst they are on duty in the UK. At the moment police dogs and horses have no protection against stab wounds or gun shots and I think this should change, police officers have stab vests and other protective clothing so why shouldn’t the dogs and horses? Both police dogs and horses should wear stab vests and headgear when they are on duty which will reduce the risks of injury and death.

As an example... On 5th October 2016 PC Dave Wardell and his police dog Finn were chasing a robbery suspect when he turned and attracted them both with a knife, PC Wardell got stabbed in the hand Finn protected PC Wardell from more injuries but got stabbed in the head and stomach puncturing his lung Finn did not give up till other units came and arrested the suspect even after being stabbed. Finn was not expected to make it thought the night. Luckily 3 years on police dog Finn is doing fine, but he shouldn’t of gone though this. 

We need this to change.

Please help me make it official that every police dog and horse on duty have to wear a stab vest and protective headgear in the UK.
