My cat Xavier was hit and killed by a car today (22nd July 2020), he was only 1 years old. To say my family and I are distraught is an understatement. The situation was made worse by the fact that the person that hit Xavier didn’t even stop, someone witnessed the act, took him to the vets and posted on facebook looking for his family.

Why is it that you have to legally stop and report horses, donkeys, goats, cattle, pigs and dogs… BUT NOT CATS?!

A life is a life no matter the kind of animal. I believe that if you hit a cat you should be held legally responsible for stopping and reporting the accident just like you are with every other animal.

Every cat has it’s own personality, just like you and me. They feel PAIN just like you and me. So why is it that an injured cat can be ignored? Why is it that in the eyes of the law a cat's life means less? It is sickening to think of the amount of people that get away with hurting an animal and leaving it there alone and in pain to die. One should at the very LEAST check on the animal and take them to the local vet to treat their pain and have their owner be informed. This should be LAW!
