Make it mandatory to replace lead pipes once discovered
The Issue
According to the WHO, Lead raises the risk of people committing violence and reduces their IQ.
It is believed lead in water is more absorbable than lead in food.
According to UNICEF it is estimated 200,000 children in the UK maybe affected.
Any level of lead of lead is toxic. It has no function in the human body. Lead contamination from water is more of a risk in areas with acidic water.
Lead poisoning affects virtually every system in the body, particularly the nervous system, kidneys and liver. It reduces people’s ability to learn and focus, and in a time of economic depression is an unnecessary barrier to recovery for individuals and society.
