Grant cats the same status under the Road Traffic Act 1988 as dogs and other animals, whereby it becomes law to report any accident to the Police and grant the Police powers to prosecute motorists who fail to report or stop at the scene of an accident.

My little cat got hit by a car on Sunday 23rd January 2022, he died in my arms 5 minutes later. 

The car that hit him drove off, but luckily the three cars behind stopped and called me so I could get my time with my baby boy, It makes me so thankful that they stopped but some people aren't so lucky. 

People should have to report this or even take the animal to the vets to be scanned, families need closure, also my cat had a sister and she saw him which gave her closure so she isn't calling for him into the night and searching for him. 

People will only be fined when not reporting the accident, it takes two minutes to stop the car and check. This isn't in place but is for dogs they are all beloved pets and deserve to be with their family in the last moments of their lives.
