Our family pet was killed in a hit and run. Our cat was just six and full of life. His life was taken in an instant by a speeding motorist who did not even stop.

This has caused complete devastation to our family. He was part of our family and his life was not valued enough to warrant this driver to care. Rupert was not just a cat. He was a companion to his brother Hugo who is now left looking for his missing brother. My daughter and son have lost their cat who they adored. Rupert was playful, mischievous and liked to bring us gifts. He was very loved. It is not right that the person who took this from my family just gets to drive off like he did not matter.

We need the Uk Government to make it a legal requirement to stop if you are in an accident involving a cat. Drivers must take responsibility. This driver was speeding and overtook two cars. This was an unnecessary incident. It is the week before Christmas and my children are left to grieve the death of our beloved pet. This driver is now getting on with their life, not understanding the consequences of his/her actions.

Sadly we are not the first family to go through this. I want you to make us the last! Rupert mattered!
