James Nicholls started this petition to UK Parliament

The Hong Kong people have made it very clear that they don't want the Chinese to rule over them. With an estimated 1 million anti-Chinese protesters protesting violently on the streets of Hong Kong on the 1st July which was the 22nd anniversary of the handover. During the protest the Hong Kong people put up the old British colonial flag of Hong Kong in the Hong Kong legislative building so it's pretty obvious the Hong Kong people have had enough of the tyrannical Chinese government. In a 2013 poll by a Hong Kong newspaper showed that 92 percent of readers who voted think Hong Kongers would prefer a return to British rule, as it was a poll conducted by a Hong Kong newspaper it's likely that well over 50% of the votes were done by Hong Kongers. Also, as anti-Chinese protests in Hong Kong have risen dramatically in the last few years it's likely that the percentage of Hong Kongers that want British rule has also increased dramatically since 2013.

Not only do the Hong Kong people dislike China but evidence suggests they also seem to want the British to rule them again. It wouldn't just be democratic to hand Hong Kong back to the British but it would also be extremely morally right in my view as the Chinese government has shown that they are willing to put people into prison camps to indoctrinate Chinese immigrants to think like the typical Chinese person, as well as harvesting people's personal data against their will and have threatened to send Hong Kongers to prison as well despite the 1984 Sino-British joint declaration. China is very powerful and they are still a Communist and an authoritarian country, if the UK doesn't act soon then I have no doubt China will annex Hong Kong before 2047.

Some want Hong Kong to be independent, but an independent Hong Kong is an invasion waiting to happen. Hong Kong on it's own is very small and rather defenceless against a massive, powerful, nuclear armed country such as China but if Hong Kong was a British colony it would have the full military support of the United Kingdom and if absolutely necessary the 15 other Commonwealth Realms backing it. China is an unstable, brutal tyrannical country which has changed little since it became Communist in 1949, the brutal atrocities China has done since include the Great Leap Forward of 1958-1962 where 45 million Chinese died due to China's brutal unpractical Communist strategy. Therefore a Hong Kong under British rule would not only be far safer but it would also be democratically correct and morally right to have Hong Kong part of a very civilised First World Empire instead of a vastly overpopulated, Communist and heavily polluted selfish and uncaring country such as China.

Indeed, China is arguably the most polluted country in the world, it's cities skylines are filled with smoke to the extent you can barely see them from a distance. The UK on the other hand is actually doing something about climate change and pollution, with the UK parliament declaring a climate change emergency on the 1st May 2019. The Chinese are threatening the Hong Kong people's human rights and the threats of the Chinese shouldn't be tolerated. What matters is what's best for Hong Kong and the world right now and what's best for Hong Kong is for it to be ruled by the UK once again.

I think the Hong Kong people should have a referendum on whether they want to be ruled by China or ruled by the United Kingdom, they will certainly vote to be ruled by the UK in that referendum. After Hong Kong has voted to allow the British to rule them again then of course the referendum result should be honoured regardless of what other countries including China think of it. Hong Kong citizens should be allowed to join the British Armed Forces and I think the Hong Kong citizens that are apart of the British Armed Forces should primarily be stationed in Hong Kong and perhaps 50 of them stationed in the Falklands. To adequately protect Hong Kong, there should be an army of 100,000 Hong Kong soldiers stationed in Hong Kong and several destroyer ships patrolling the borders of Hong Kong. Hong Kong should have a British governor governing Hong Kong again, the British governor must be born in the United Kingdom and be very loyal to the Queen and the United Kingdom. I think the British governor though should be democratically elected by the Hong Kong people in order to appease and satisfy the Hong Kong people's very prevalent overwhelming urges for democracy.

In a 2003 poll conducted by Japan, the results found that Britain has invented 54% of the world's most important inventions, Hong Kong will be ruled by and protected by the greatest innovators the world has known which is the British people. Together we can save the Hong Kong people from the monstrous barbaric tyranny that is the smoked country of China. Let's be brave, get some backbone and have Hong Kong ruled by civilised, smart and honourable rulers instead of the barbaric, backward and selfish Chinese rulers.
