LIFE BEHIND BARS

LIFE BEHIND BARS
The Issue
Rabbits deserve a proper home which is suitable for them, not a small size cage that will fit in a living room suitable for the owner.
They require plenty of room to be able to run, play, fully stand, stretch and do plenty of binkies. They are very sociable and clever and should be given the opportunity to explore and participate in their natural behaviour. Plenty of toys and a large home should be provided with a minimum of 6ftx2ft.
Sadly nowadays thousands of pet rabbits are being kept and locked away in tiny hutches or cages (traditionally used for farming). This is cruel and unacceptable. They are the most misunderstood pets and are affected by inadequate care. Keeping them in such living conditions can lead to depression, diseases, a reduced quality of life and in worst cases death.
They are one of the most popular pet choices and are looked upon being the easiest to care for, when actually they come with a massive responsibility. Once in the hands of uneducated owners or when the novelty wears off, they are often neglected and forgotten.
Realistically these tiny hutches and cages only have enough room for a rabbit to sit, eat and extract faeces.
It is cruel to keep a rabbit in cramped living conditions.
It is cruel to reduce an animals quality of life, and It is cruel to keep an animal locked up.
If it is inhuman to keep a cat or dog locked away, then it is also inhuman to keep a rabbit locked away. The aim of pet owners should always be to give an animal a happier and safer life... Not to take away their quality of life...
Please vote to help raise awareness and to put a ban on small hutches and cages.
Thank You.
