Definition of Terrorism: "..Is the use or threat of action to intimidate the public."

The definition of terrorism clearly states any act of violence that intimidates the public such as knife crime, makes the public live in fear, causing anxiety and worry about the safety of their children and themselves. Therefore I argue you to support this petition and send a clear message to parliament that we need to see a change and bring back safety to our street.

The UK has seen a surge of knife crime since recordings began in the year ending March 2011, statistics show knife crime has surged  49% highest on record that is approximately 45,627 last year March 2020 according to the Office of National Statistics. 2020 has seen a decline of crimes due to Covid19 restrictions only by 4% in England and Wales. However during this period police recorded knife crime and youth violence have risen in many parts of the UK.

☆Knife and offensive weapon offences recorded 35,815 in the year ending March 2020.

☆Proven offences and offenders
In the year ending March 2020, there were 20,597 disposals given for possession of a knife or offensive weapon.

☆Juveniles
(aged 10-17) were the offenders in 21% of cases.
