Hello everyone,

My name is Mahdi. I am Kurdish and I was born in Kurdistan, Iran. I fled to the United Kingdom nine years ago to save my life. Since 2007, when I first arrived in the UK, I started to learn English because I couldn’t speak any English. I managed to learn English and to be able to make a new  life for myself with new friends and people in similar circumstances to myself. I am settled in the United Kingdom now and this is my home. I have always tried to improve myself and have made new friends, whilst getting to learn more about English history, culture, language and the way of life. I spend most of my time meeting new people and socialising to help me forget what has happened to me in the past and to protect myself from what is currently happening in Kurdistan of Iran (Eastern Kurdistan), but I cannot forget everything and not think about my family left behind.

Kurdish issues with Iran and in the region:

As most of you may know that the  Kurdish people have no country now because Kurdistan has been invaded by four countries Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. Since the division, the Kurds have been fighting for the return of our land and for the basic rights for all Kurdish people in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran is constantly arresting young Kurdish people for non-conformance  against Iran or for having different political and religion opinions. In the last few years they have continued to arrest and execute Kurdish people, at this has increased rapidly by 60%. Just in November 2016, 14 Kurdish youth were executed for been involved in political unrest and 31 men executed just because they had different religious opinions. We all as human beings, must help one another to make their life better because everybody has right to live.

We just ask for justice and our rights.
