Hi, My name's Emilia! Last month, I decided to go vegetarian because I can't stand the way that animals are treated before they are slaughtered for meat. Most of us buy our meat from the supermarket and it becomes easy for us to stop asking questions about where it comes from or how it was grown: if it says it's organic on the packaging, we believe it. In reality, most 'free range' chickens are kept in rooms packed with other chickens and many cows are put on steroids before becoming 'premium quality' beef. I'm starting this petition not because I want to stop people from eating meat, but because I think we have a right to be educated about where our 'organic' meat comes from. I think that graphic pictures of mutilated animals and the conditions that they are living in should be put on meat packaging, much like the pictures of damaged lungs on cigarette packs and I believe that supermarkets should be forced to be more transparent and honest about the sources of the meat they sell.
