Councillor Mike Leddy, who represents Brandwood in Birmingham, and was Lord Mayor from 2013-14, has given his support to our campaign. Here's what he said in his email to other councillors at Birmingham City Council: 'Dear all, I was asked my views on climate change and if I could help and assist this campaign, which I'm pleased to support. This is a campaign that is focused around "Climate Change refugees". In 2012 one person was displaced due to climate-related disasters every second, however as the UN's definition of a refugee doesn't include those forced to flee their homes due to climate change, they're not protected under international law. We need to change that, as the increasing prevalence of climate change is leading to more people needing to flee their homes, farms and land just to survive.
